A leaked brochure shot posted online gives us our first real look at
the interior of the 2013 Honda Accord. Although we had already seen much
of the new midsizer’s interior thanks to our earlier spy photos, this
new image confirms many of our earlier discoveries — and hints at a
number of new technologies for the 2013 Honda Accord.
This brochure image of the 2013 Honda Accord confirms several things we saw when our spy photographers snapped the new sedan’s interior
– much of the interior looks just like that of the new 2012 Honda CR-V
crossover. A larger analog speedometer is centered in the instrument
cluster, with an LCD trip computer at its center. To the left is an
analog tachometer, while fuel and temperature gauges sit at the right.
At the top of the center stack is what Honda calls the i-MID display,
which appears to show information like navigation maps. The company’s
new touch-screen HondaLink infotainment system resides between two parallelogram-shaped air vents, while two rows of rectangular buttons operate the climate control.
The leaked shot also reveals a little bit more about the 2013 Honda
Accord’s optional equipment list. There’s a bright red engine start-stop
button, the familiar green “Econ” mode button from other new Honda
models, switches for heated seats, and a button to disable a
lane-departure warning system — the latter a first for the Honda Accord.
A close-up of the i-MID display also reveals a menu for adjusting
camera options, hinting that a backup camera will also join the
equipment roster.
The 2013 Honda Accord
will offer three powertrain choices: the base unit is a 188-hp,
2.4-liter inline-four, coupled to a six-speed manual or a continuously
variable transmission. The upgrade engine is a 271-hp, 3.5-liter V-6
that mates to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. Finally, the
Accord Hybrid will eventually return with a series plug-in hybrid
drivetrain. It should allow for 10 to 15 miles of all-electric driving
range before the 2.0-liter gasoline engine kicks in.
The 2013 Honda Accord went into production in Ohio earlier this month. It will reach dealerships in September.
