Leaked: 2013 Honda Accord Interior Revealed Online

Written by: Jake Holmes
2013 Honda Accord interior brochure leak
A leaked brochure shot posted online gives us our first real look at the interior of the 2013 Honda Accord. Although we had already seen much of the new midsizer’s interior thanks to our earlier spy photos, this new image confirms many of our earlier discoveries — and hints at a number of new technologies for the 2013 Honda Accord.

This brochure image of the 2013 Honda Accord confirms several things we saw when our spy photographers snapped the new sedan’s interior – much of the interior looks just like that of the new 2012 Honda CR-V crossover. A larger analog speedometer is centered in the instrument cluster, with an LCD trip computer at its center. To the left is an analog tachometer, while fuel and temperature gauges sit at the right. At the top of the center stack is what Honda calls the i-MID display, which appears to show information like navigation maps. The company’s new touch-screen HondaLink infotainment system resides between two parallelogram-shaped air vents, while two rows of rectangular buttons operate the climate control.

The leaked shot also reveals a little bit more about the 2013 Honda Accord’s optional equipment list. There’s a bright red engine start-stop button, the familiar green “Econ” mode button from other new Honda models, switches for heated seats, and a button to disable a lane-departure warning system — the latter a first for the Honda Accord. A close-up of the i-MID display also reveals a menu for adjusting camera options, hinting that a backup camera will also join the equipment roster.

The 2013 Honda Accord will offer three powertrain choices: the base unit is a 188-hp, 2.4-liter inline-four, coupled to a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. The upgrade engine is a 271-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 that mates to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. Finally, the Accord Hybrid will eventually return with a series plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It should allow for 10 to 15 miles of all-electric driving range before the 2.0-liter gasoline engine kicks in.

The 2013 Honda Accord went into production in Ohio earlier this month. It will reach dealerships in September.

2012 Honda Insight: The Overlooked Subcompact Hybrid Choice?

With four different Prius models and two non-prius hybrids now for sale in the U.S., it’s easy to go straight to a Toyota dealership when you’re looking for a hybrid car.

As we’ve pointed out before, however, there are plenty of other great hybrid choices on the market worthy of your attention, cars like the 2012 Honda Insight.

While its 42 mpg combined EPA rating isn’t anywhere near the 50 mpg combined figure of its nearest subcompact hybrid rival, the 2012 Toyota C Prius, we still think you should go and test-drive this mild-hybrid from Honda.

Here’s why.

Price

As with any expensive purchase, price always plays a factor when making a decision on which car to buy.

And with the base-level 2012 Honda Insight starting at $18,500 -- plus a $770 mandatory destination fee -- it is almost $5,000 cheaper than the admittedly larger, base-level 2012 Toyota Prius.

It’s also nearly $700 cheaper than the base-level 2012 Toyota Prius C, which has become a more likely cross-shop with the Honda Insight since it was launched earlier this year.

For your money however, you’ll only get a very basic Insight, complete with automatic climate control, remote entry, power windows and a two-speaker audio system.

The dash is more conventional

Unlike the high-mounted, eco-driven dashboard of the 2012 Toyota Prius C, the split-level digital dashboard of the 2012 Honda Insight is more conventional.

Clearly visible in the top portion is a digital speed readout, while beneath it, faux-analogue displays clearly indicate engine speed, eco-driving and fuel level.

Clear to read, the Honda Insight’s dashboard is less fussy than the Prius dash, and thanks to its simple-to-understand energy coach, quickly teaches you how to get the best gas mileage out of the Insight’s 1.3-liter, Integrated Motor Assist powerplant.

There’s a choice of gearbox...sort of

Unlike the 2012 Toyota Prius family of hybrids, whose continuously-variable transmission is computer-controlled for maximum efficiency, the high-end, $21,965 2012 Honda Insight EX comes with steering-wheel mounted paddle-shifters.

While it still has the same CVT gearbox as all the other Insight models, this allows you to enter into a simulated conventional gearbox, giving you at least some control over engine speed versus car speed.

Try it and see?

Since the launch of the 2012 Toyota Prius C, the 2012 Honda Insight is a much less attractive proposition than it once was, since its mild-hybrid drivetrain lacks the all-electric mode offered by full hybrid systems and it offers a little less space than Toyota's new subcompact Prius.

But with 2012 model year upgrades including better trim, minor front and rear end restyling, and a 1 mpg gas mileage increase on previous model years to counteract abysmal sales, the 2012 Honda Insight isn't out of the race just yet.

With a distinctly different driving feel to the Prius lineup, we'd advise you add the 2012 Honda Insight hybrid to your test-drive list, but suspect that it you'll have a tough time choosing between it and the 2012 Toyota Prius C.

2013 Honda Accord is One Feature-Rich Vehicle – Says Berkman

2013 Honda Accord is One Feature-Rich Vehicle – Says Berkman

The redesigned 2013 Honda Accord, is currently being developed to reignite the Japanese automaker’s sales spark in the United States. The first images of the modified sedan have been spied and the vehicle has to compete with the Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat, Nissan Altima, Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion and Mazda6. To head the segment the Accord has to work more on its styling tweaks. The executives in Honda however, revealed that they have learned a lesson when they removed too much content on the redesigned 2012 Civic. Erik Berkman, head of research and development for Honda Americas explained in an interview about the news on 2013 Accord.

“You’re going to find that Accord is a very well-balanced product that is the best overall product in everything, whether we’re talking about interior packaging, content of the vehicle, the fuel economy of the vehicle,” he said. “It will be one of the most feature-rich vehicles we’ve ever made,” Berkman added, without hinting more details.

Honda enthusiasts in the United States believe mere evolutionary design changes to the 2013 Accord could spell trouble as the competition is getting tough and the automakers across the globe focus on styling tweaks.

For instance, the Ford Fusion with its Aston Martin-like lines. Besides, Hyundai and Kia have made their mark in the U.S. with their specially designed mid-sized sedans. The engine line, with displacement ranges from 660 cubic centimeters to 3.5 liters, is being added to every new Honda model starting with the Accord.

The 2013 Honda Accord will be the last among four core model that Honda introduces over a 24-month period. It includes an all-new Odyssey minivan, which went on sale in late 2010, followed by the new Civic compact last spring and the redesigned CR-V in late 2011. The four models accounted for nearly 80 percent of the Honda brand’s U.S. sales last year. Till date, the Accord is the fourth best-selling car in the U.S. after the Camry, Altima and Honda Civic. Let us see what change that the restyled Accord brings.

The 2010 and  2011 President’s Award is an elite award presented by American Honda to the best of the best among the nation’s Honda dealerships. It recognizes stores for providing exceptional customer service, earning top ranking customer satisfaction results, exceeding sales performance goals, and for maintaining the best training and facility operations. There are over 1000 Honda dealerships in the country, and VIP Honda is one of the 118 who were presented with the President’s Award in 2010 and 2011. It is a significant achievement for the dealership and demonstrates the high level of service and customer care given by the sales and service staff.

VIP HONDA EARNS HONDA’S HIGHEST HONOR

 2010 Honda President's Award

VIP Honda owner, Bill Vince (center in light-colored sport jacket) is joined by General Manager, Adam Kuczynski (on Mr. Vince’s right), other employees and American Honda representatives to celebrate the dealership’s winning Honda’s highest award, the Honda President’s Award. VIP Honda, located at 700 Rt. 22 East, North Plainfield, earned the award based on their exceptional performance in all areas of operation - customer service and satisfaction, sales, training and facility.

When VIP Honda General Manager, Adam Kuczynski learned the dealership had won the Honda President’s Award for exceptional performance in 2010 and 2011, he thought, “what a perfect anniversary present.” VIP Honda owner Bill Vince, celebrating his dealership’s fiftieth year in business this year could not agree more. “The President’s Award is Honda’s highest tribute,” said Mr. Vince, “and for us, it’s very rich icing on a very special cake.” This annual award is presented to top-ranking Honda dealerships across the country, based on their achievement of excellence in all areas of operation - customer service and satisfaction, sales, training and facility. More than 1,000 Honda automobile dealerships participated in the President’s Award program, with 118 earning top honors for 2010 and 2011. The program objectives are revised annually to address the current market environment and to encourage dealerships to continually strive to achieve higher levels of customer satisfaction.“Since its inception in 1995, the President’s Award has been recognizing top dealers who are unwavering in their pursuit of excellence and customer care. The team members of VIP Honda have proven their dedication to their customers by achieving the rigorous standards established for this award,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of Automobile Sales for Honda. “We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and invite you to experience for yourself the advantage of doing business with an award-winning Honda dealership.” While VIP Honda worked extremely hard to maintain an award-winning level of service in the dealership, they also found the time and energy to maintain their commitment to give back to the community. In 2010, VIP Honda supported the Somerset Home For Temporarily Displaced Children, the Lions Club programs to prevent sight and hearing loss and help sight and hearing impaired individuals, the Sharing Village Driving For Surviving Program to benefit survivors of cancer and other diseases. They also sponsored the North Plainfield Independence Day Celebration and made meaningful donations to the North Plainfield Police and Fire Departments and many other worthwhile organizations. Adam Kuczynski said he was proud to accept the President’s Award on behalf of VIP Honda’s dedicated employees. “Everyone on our team made a maximum effort to earn this honor,” said Mr. Kuczynski, “and each and every one of them deserves to share the honor and the credit.” Bill Vince added that it was gratifying that the dealership’s efforts to provide a better experience were so well received by their customers. Located at 700 Rt. 22 East at Somerset Street in North Plainfield, VIP Honda features the full line of 2012 Hondas, including the all-new CR-Z Sport Hybrid, the all-new Odyssey Minivan and the Accord Crosstour; a large selection of Certified Used Hondas and other Quality Pre-Owned Vehicles; and an array of services from Honda Finance. The showroom is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 9pm, and Saturdays from 9am to 7pm. VIP Honda can be reached at 908-753-1500 and on the web at viphonda.com.

purchase loans vs. leases

Purchase loans and leases are different methods of automobile financing. Leasing is not the same as renting a car. A lease is the financing of the use of a vehicle. A purchase loan is the financing of the ownership of the vehicle.

When making the buy or lease decision, look at a financial comparison and at your personal priorities (i.e. what is important to you).

Leasing A Vehicle

With a lease you are in effect financing a portion of a vehicle's cost: that is, the depreciation between the time of purchase and the end of the lease term. A down payment is not required on a lease, but it will lower the monthly payments. Sales tax is only paid on the monthly payments, not the full price of the vehicle. The first payment is due at time of signing.

Financing A Vehicle Purchase

When buying a vehicle, the amount of miles you drive and how long you keep the vehicle are not factors. Monthly payments will be higher because you are financing the entire value of the vehicle. Typically car buyers will make a down payment in order to 1) obtain credit and lower the interest rate, and 2) lower the cost of the monthly payments. The first payment is made a month after signing the contract. The vehicle may be sold or traded at any time.

Lease Payments

The lease payment is comprised of the depreciation charge and the finance charge. Depreciation compensates the lender for the vehicle, and the finance charge is the interest on the money the lender has tied up in the vehicle. The leasing company holds the title of the vehicle.

Loan Payments

The loan payment is comprised of the principal charge (cost of the vehicle) and the finance charge. The bank holds the vehicle title until the loan has been completely repaid.

In summary, leasing generally benefits customers wanting to save money on monthly vehicle costs and whose lifestyle is predictable enough to allow for mileage limitations are who maintain their car in good condition. Buying is generally preferred by customers who drive a lot and who like to pay off a vehicle so that they no longer have monthly payments.

VIP HONDA SUPPORTS MEN & WOMEN IN UNIFORM

VIP Honda Support

VIP Honda General Manager, Adam Kuczynski (right) , presents a badge to Chief William Eaton as members of the North Plainfield Fire Dept. look on. VIP Honda donated money to buy new badges for the Fire Department to free up their funds for some of their numerous services. The donation was one of many the dealership made in 2010 in "support of men and women in uniform." VIP Honda is located at 700 Rt. 22 East at Somerset Street in North Plainfield.

North Plainfield, NJ: For the almost fifty years VIP Honda has been in business, the dealership has made sure that its program to give back to the community each year always includes the police and fire departments. “We’re always there when they need us,” said General Manager, Adam Kuczynski, “because they’re always here for us when we need them.”

In 2010, VIP Honda donated money to buy new badges for the North Plainfield Fire Department to free up their funds for some of their many services. Adam Kuczynski said that most people probably aren’t familiar with the full extent of the Fire Department’s services, beyond firefighting. Mr. Kuczynski explained that the department’s mission statement includes fire suppression, prevention and education, emergency medical care and other related activities. North Plainfield Fire Dept. Chief, William Eaton expressed his gratitude for VIP Honda’s “generous donation,” adding “Through the years, VIP Honda has been solid in giving the extra support necessary to help the Fire Dept. provide the highest standards of service and safety.”
VIP Honda made a substantial donation in 2010 to the Garden State Law Enforcement Officers Association in support of their ongoing programs. The Association publishes an annual Crime Prevention-Drug Awareness Yearbook filled with valuable information on Home Security, Identity Theft and Elder Abuse, among others. The Association also uses donations to help sustain the Bowman Survivors Fund, a College Scholarship Fund, the New Jersey Special Olympics and other worthwhile causes.

In 2010, VIP Honda also remembered the men and women who have worn the uniforms of the armed forces in the service of our country with a donation to the National Vietnam Veteran’s Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to benefit disabled and hospitalized veterans as well as veterans who are unemployed or homeless. To that end, the Foundation provides personal packs and free telephone calling cards for veterans in VA hospitals, TV’s for VA hospitals, funding for food pantry programs and more.

Located at 700 Rt. 22 East at Somerset Street in North Plainfield, VIP Honda features the full line of 2011 Hondas, including the all-new CR-Z Sport Hybrid, the all-new Odyssey Minivan and the Accord Crosstour; a large selection of Certified Used Hondas and other Quality Pre-Owned Vehicles; and an array of services from Honda Finance. The showroom is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 9pm, and Saturdays from 9am to 7pm. VIP Honda can be reached at 908-753-1500 and on the web at viphonda.com

Accessories For CRV

3 Popular Honda CRV Accessories for Customizing Your Vehicle

The Honda CRV is one of the most popular vehicles of its type that is available on the market today, and there are a huge number of Honda CRV Accessories that you can purchase to help customize your vehicle to your needs. The low cost of the Honda CRV relative to other vehicles that are new on the market is an enticing prospect for potential customers, and the price of the vehicle makes it easier for many to afford the customized add-ons (like a Honda CRV roof rack or a Honda CRV cargo cover). Read on for some additional information about the most popular accessories for your Honda CRV.

Roof Rack

The Honda CRV roof rack is easy to install and relatively inexpensive. It is typically priced at a few hundred dollars new, although you can find this customized add-on through used and wholesale parts stores and retailers. The roof rack attaches to the top of your vehicle and allows you to carry any number of items that may be too large to fit inside the vehicle itself. This add-on effectively negates any downside to the fact that the CRV doesn't have as much space for skis, canoes and other large items within the interior of the vehicle itself. The roof rack can be permanently installed in the car or may also be removed at your convenience if you are concerned about the total height of the vehicle in certain situations.

Cargo Cover

The Honda CRV cargo cover is similar to a roof rack, but it provides an enclosed space on the top of the vehicle for your large equipment and sporting goods. The cargo cover is typically installed one time only and is left on top of the vehicle, although you can remove it with some effort. The cost for purchasing and installing the Honda CRV cargo cover is similar to that of the purchase and installation of the Honda CRV roof rack from above.

Electronic Accessories

There are a number of electronic accessories that you can install inside of your Honda CRV as well. These include optional sound systems, GPS navigation systems and more. The price of each of these accessories may vary dramatically, and the installation procedure is typically a bit more expensive than for an external device like a roof rack or a cargo cover.
The most common electronic accessory that people choose to add to their Honda CRV is the modified sound system. Standard CRV models come with either a disc player and MP3 player system or with a full disc changer in addition to the previous two items. The speakers are standard and somewhat limited in comparison with the technology that exists for car stereo systems. Installing a new speaker system generally costs several hundred dollars between the price of the components themselves and the cost of the installation process.

Buying A Honda

If you are looking into buying a Honda, there are some things you should know about their company and policies. Honda has been making cars for decades now and are very respected in the auto industry. They are known for their smaller cars that are very reliable for years to come. Many people who are driving older used cars are driving the Honda Accord from the early 1990s. Honda's have a long life expectancy and can allow you to get 200,000 miles or more from your automobile if you choose to drive it that long. Not many car companies can say that. When you buy a Honda, you get to buy an affordable car with no subtraction of features. The Honda fleet has even undergone design changes to make them look like luxury cars while still being inexpensive. Honda has a green movement that they have been pushing and are living up to. Many of their cars are ULEV, or ultra low emissions vehicles. Even one of their larger SUVs in the Honda Pilot is an ULEV. They also have a few hybrids like the Civic and Insight. Many of their cars are in the top of their classes when it comes to fuel efficiency. Their cars also come with a great warranty. Cars are covered bumper to bumper for three years, your engine and transmission for five years, and corrosion for an unlimited amount of miles. If you are looking for more information about Honda and their fleet, please check out the "Buying a Honda" section on the Autos.com website.

Honda Accord

Why the Honda Accord is the Best Value for Your Sound Money?

Dollar for dollar the Honda Accord is unquestionably the best sedan model for car price on American roads today!
I've been driving a Honda Accord for the past six years, and I am downright amazed of its ride experience. I always feel exhilarated when I'm driving my Honda Accord...
  • The Honda Accord's wheel base is solid and utterly hugs the roadway, making it a rugged car with scrupulous wheels.
  • The Honda Accord goes where I want it to go without hesitation with immense power and strength.
  • The Honda Accord has a remarkably comfortable interior design with two secret compartments for storing your valuables with key locks.
  • The Honda Accord is engineered with a steady torque when making sharp turns.
  • The Honda Accord's air conditioning system works like a charm, and it sets to a comfortable cabin temperature.
  • The Honda Accord's sound system is out of this world! When I listen to my favorite classical CD's it is as if I were at a concert hall with an orchestra playing before me. Its' many radio stations are clear cut with adjustable knobs for the treble and bass.
  • The Honda Accord's acceleration is perfect without a runaway feel.
  • The Honda Accord's ABS brakes work wonderfully at the command of your foot. The Honda Accord is essentially maintenance free once you keep up with its' oil changes and tire rotations with regular scheduled checkups.
I think the Honda Accord is the safest car in its' class with eight airbags, and a solid, heavy metal construction base.
I was rear ended at a red light a few years ago. My Honda Accord absorbed all the impact with minimal damage. Its chasse stayed intact, and I sustained a minimal injury. Another car would have caved in like an accordion.

A whole lot of engineering went into the design of the Honda Accord! American Honda obtained a real high score with the safest safety crash testing rate being excellent. I believe the Accord will continue to be the best car in its' class for many years to come.

I am an extraordinarily proud driver of my Honda Accord because it is the most valuable sedan in the market in terms of dollar cost price.
